Feeling Sick: Should I still come in?

We understand that it is important to attend therapy.

We are getting into that part of the year when colds, flu, and other illnesses are floating around. Sometimes this might happen when you have an appointment scheduled at Collaboration House Psychology. If you are unwell with a viral or gastric infection, we ask that you contact us for a telehealth link or phone session for your appointment.

What can I expect in the In-Person session?

In the clinic, we will continue to encourage good hand hygiene (hand sanitiser is available in the office and washroom), and cough and sneeze etiquette (i.e., into the elbow or into a tissue). You will be required to wear a mask entering the clinic/waiting area. Once you are in session, you may choose to wear or take off your mask. Your therapist is required by government health advice to wear a mask to achieve the highest level of hygiene safety for our clients.

What if I'm sick on the day?

For the health and safety of the community, clients, and staff, for each In-Person appointment, you need to be well to attend. On the day of your appointment, you will receive an SMS  alerting you that if you are feeling unwell, to please contact reception at 0490 973 552 to get a telehealth Zoom link or arrange a phone session and not attend the session in-person. If you attend in-person and are unwell, the medical centre staff or your therapist will ask you to leave and your session will be rescheduled.

We ask that you: Call us and change to Telehealth if you have:

  • Been vomiting or have had diarrhea in the last 48 hours

  • A cold or flu-like symptoms (i.e., coughing, sore throat, fatigue)

  • A fever in the last 48 hours

  • Any contagious disease or virus

  • Traveled overseas, or traveled interstate from domestic COVID-19 restricted areas "hot spots" in the last 14 days

  • Been in contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

  • Are waiting for a COVID-19 test result

Children and Dependents

Until further notice, we are asking clients who have carer responsibilities (parents with children, carers of dependents) to not bring the persons they are caring for into the medical centre waiting area or to in-person client sessions. Please make alternative care arrangements for any person you may be caring for the time of your appointment. You may also contact us to get a Telehealth Zoom link or do a phone session instead.

When and How? In-Person sessions are currently only offered on Wednesdays and access to in-person sessions are determined on a case-by-case basis by the individual therapist and the current governmental health advice.

If you are unwell, we want you to get better! And Thank You in advance for your help to protect the health of your psychologist and the community at Collaboration House Psychology.

As always, if you need to reschedule your appointment entirely, give us at least 48 hours notice, otherwise reschedule/cancellation fees will apply.

Phone us at 0490 973 552 and speak with reception if you have any quetsions about this information.
